Equipment Requirements Eye and ear protection (can be provided by the range) Safe and reliable service caliber handgun, 9mm/.38 Spl or larger - this class is built around compact and full size semi-automatic pistols - revolvers are welcome but may be very challenging.Strong-side or appendix, belt mounted holster that covers the trigger guard when the gun is in the holster, stays open when the gun is out of the holster, and attaches securely to the belt. Unsafe holsters will not be allowed. Please do not bring minimalist holsters that only cover the trigger guard and are designed to be removed from the belt before holstering. Do not bring the BLACKHAWK! Sherpa holster. Concealment garment. The class is intended to develop skilled use of a pistol in self-defense. This means concealment. Unconcealed range or competition gear is not appropriate for this class.Sufficient spare magazines to shoot at least 30 rounds of ammo before needing to refill magazines (for example, if you have 17-round magazines, bring at least 2 magazines to class.)Magazine pouch (single, double, and combination pouches are all acceptable.) Ammunition, ~200 rounds. Please allow yourself the best class experience possible and bring ammunition that is going to function correctly! This class is not the best time to break in a new gun, or use untested or unreliable guns, ammunition, or other equipment! Those issues will be a huge distraction from your training.
The course teaches basic marksmanship fundamentals, firearm safety using a“PERFECT PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT”
Dry fire is the process of manipulating, aiming, and triggering your firearm without ammunition. Dry fire is an essential component of shooting proficiency.
Given the high cost and rarity of ammunition, FSA is offering a real world opportunity to learn and develop skill in pistol craft. Students will have the opportunity to run through drills not readily available to the average citizen.
The skills learned in class will allow more effective live fire training and better uses of ammo.
